Ice before Martinmas enough to bear a duck,
The rest of the winter`ll be slush and muck.
False each year. No ice, yet still
slushy winters follow.

23rd St.Clement`s Day
St Clement gives the winter.
Yes,we had ground frost,but it was a a day of sunshine and showers.

25 th St.Catherine`s Day
St.Catherines foul or fair
So it will be next Februair.

General
Flowers in bloom late in November indicate a bad winter.
2003 there was honeysuckle,campanula,
aubretia,fuschia.poppies,coronilla,geum,
penstemon,pansies,salvia,malva,
lobelia,petunia,primula,fatsia and feverfew.Winter not too bad.
2008 only sweet peas suvriving.
